This lightweight synthetic (60 grams of Primaloft Gold) puffy disappeared from the Patagonia website a year or two ago. I inquired as to why and they told me that they were just trying to trim the line up a little and that this piece was deemed unnecessary or words to that effect. OK, I disagree but I can relate.
Somebody at the exalted muckity muck level must have changed their mind because it is in the catalog that arrived in todays mail.
I had one of these and liked it but did not find it useful for my outdoor clothing system so I gave it away. However, I should have kept it because my Micro Puff Jacket (100 grams of Primaloft Sport ) is a tad too heavy for cool/almost cold weather business casual use and I missed it. So, I took it back.
I would not rely on it for an overnight bivy but it is perfect for fall and early winter business trips to places like Denver. I slip it on over a long sleeve button down as soon as I get off the plane, don’t have to take it off in the car to the office, and it is just enough for a good walk around downtown at lunch or after dinner. If it rains or snows I add a TorrentShell slicker and am fine as frogs hair. It is an ideal travel piece. Warm but not too warm, looks nice, weighs next to nothing, and stuffs easily into the outside pocket of my roller bag.
I can also tell you that the Nano Puffs are a big hit with the leg shavers in my house this time of year because I absolutely refuse to turn the heat on, ever, and they wear theirs all the time.
I am glad the Nano Puff Jacket is back, thank you Patagonia.
