I have been looking for something to replace my REI Active Stretch Half Zips because they stopped making them. They are kind of a smooth on the outside fleece on the inside technical sweatshirt that does double duty as an expedition weight base and light middle layer insulation for high activity or extreme cold. I have 4 in different colors and love them. They are the half in my 3.5 layer clothing system.
From the newly released Kuiu 2015 catalog – This Peloton 200 Zip T looks very much like my REI favorites but it is made of a new synthetic yarn called Primeflex from, of course, Toray. Kuiu makes several different models with varying weight but this is the one I am most interested in right now.
What I need it to do is add warming insulation, be exceptionally comfortable, wear like iron, cut the wind and breathe like a champ. Easy right? No it’s not which is why I have been having a hell of a time finding a replacement since REI started putting profit over product offering and getting rid of some really good items (you can thank former banker slash REI CEO and new Obama best buddy Sally Jewell for that paradigm shift).
The Peleton 200 comes in the two Kuiu camo flavors as well as Major Brown and Graphite solid colors.
Let’s see if this works.
