Front view of the new Kifaru Xing which will debut at SHOT Show.
Hot from the Kifaru forum, Mel Terkla is going to be introducing some new backpacks at SHOT. The Xing (pronounced with a Z) caught my eye as one that I would be most interested in. I lifted these pics to show you.
Quarter view. I like the top pocket which looks big enough for full size binos but I can’t be sure until I see it in person.
I don’t have any of the specs except that it is supposedly made of 500 denier Cordura which is consistent with the trend for lighter packs but Kifaru describes it as a taller Xray or Express with a front panel opening. It also looks like the main pack body can be accessed from the top so it should satisfy just about everybody.
It also looks like this pack has a pretty low profile and conforms well to the shape of the back which is a feature that I have been looking for. I would love to see something a little smaller than this but with a parachute pack shape and form for using on a chair lift or helicopter. Something tight and low profile.
Open. I am a big fan of panel loaders.
They are saying that these new packs won’t be available for a couple months but at least we know that they are on their way. I will try to get one as soon as possible and let you know what I think.
