The minute I saw these I wanted one because it solves several problems at once for me. Diamondback Truck Covers makes a number of different models that come in brite or Line-X matte black but I am most interested in the SE (pictured above) and HD versions.
My F150 4X4 is a light duty truck so I chose the SE cover instead of the HD. Both are very well made and strong but the difference is in the total amount of weight I can put on top. The SE is rated at 400 pounds so I can sleep, sit, stand, or stack gear on it. The HD on the other hand can support a whopping 1600 pounds. That’s more than two full size quads and if you visit the Diamondback website you will see that they do indeed use the HD covers to haul full size quads.
The cover sits nicely on top of and is fixed securely to the bedrails. The main center piece allows the front and rear panels to open separately or at the same time. Each panel has its own locking handle. Note the tie down cleats at each corner.
The tailgate can be opened independent of the top which means you maintain full access to the contents of the bed without disturbing whatever is loaded on the cover. That is a big plus.
I like this product very much so far. It is well made. It offers functionality, utility and flexibility. It hides and protects whatever I have stored in the bed from the elements and prying eyes. It looks good. I can’t wait to see how this product works for me everyday and in the field.
UPDATE – Just got back from a road trip with the whole family and the three woman had the entire bed of the truck full of luggage, packages and other…stuff. The convenience and security of the Diamondback Bed Cover was much appreciated. It also garnered a number of thumbs up from fellow light truck drivers on the road. So far so wonderful with this product.
