My opinion of most of the hunting shows I have seen on cable television is not a secret. It’s not good and this sort of thing doesn’t help.
The competitive pressure (the Sportsman Channel alone airs more than 100 shows) to come up with compelling content and attract viewers is apparently so great that these people are willing to do anything no matter how contrived, phony, corny or illegal. It was the same thing with the dentist that shot Cecil the lion in Zimbabwe. The quest for fame, fortune or just one more glory picture for the digital “I love me wall” has an effect and I am not happy about the atmosphere that it is creating.
Unfortunately, that seems to be the case with a number of things I used to love doing. YouTube, Twitter, and local area message boards are having the same ruinous (IMO) effect on high school sports (and the parents are driving it just as much if not more than the athletes).
