The Benghazi incident has been the subject of a great deal of attention since it happened but even for those who have taken the time to try to understand it, it is complicated with a lot of moving parts and many points of view. As a result, most people don’t know much bout it. 13 Hours: The Secret Warriors of Benghazi breaks it down and shows us. By most accounts, most importantly the people portrayed in the movie, they got it right. If you believed Lone Survivor there is no reason you wouldn’t believe this story.
My first thought after the credits began to roll was that if this movie had been shown before the 2012 presidential election Obama would never have been re-elected which is probably why they tried to hide it, cover it up, or smooth it over.
I have never been in combat or even close so I don’t know first hand but I have heard legit trigger pullers comment on the authenticity and it sure looked real to me. My compliments to the people who made this picture because it is well done and they avoided the natural inclination to make a political statement. Truth is they didn’t have to, it was obvious. Barack Obama was the Commander-In-Chief and he did absolutely nothing to help these people. Despicable.
That was the thing that nagged me from the time the shooting started. Where was the cavalry? For 13 hours American facilities, American citizens, and American warriors working on our behalf were attacked and our so called “leaders” sent no help. They didn’t even evacuate the survivors or get the dead bodies out of Libya. It was excruciating to watch.
And I gotta tell you, I am surprised and disappointed that the military units who were aware of the ongoing attack and within hours travel time didn’t break ranks and respond anyway. Especially the F-16 fly boys from Aviano or Sigonella. What’s worse, despite all the possible hurdles that may or may not have existed to get American military aircraft above the fight, nobody even tried. Why not?
Another thing that really bothered me was the open disdain and disrespect the CIA Chief of Station showed towards the men that made up his small security force. As it turns out, those “animals” put it all on the line to save his sorry ass along with the other 26 ivy league intelligence snobs.
I do think the movie could have done a better job of setting the stage prior to the attack. There was very little mention of the many official requests up the State Department chain of command for increased security measures at Benghazi. Those requests were all but ignored.
If 13 Hours doesn’t make you mad you don’t have integrity. If it doesn’t bring tears to your eyes you don’t have heart. If it doesn’t make you vote for anybody but Hillary Clinton for president then you don’t have a brain. Can you blame what happened on Hillary? No, not directly because she is slick like her husband but she was involved up to her eyeballs and played a part in the before, during, and after so as far as I am concerned her hands are covered in blood. That alone should disqualify her from being president.
The take away for me is that if you are down range and in harms way, Obama and friends don’t have your back unless it somehow directly benefits them. YOYOMFs.
I recommend that you see this movie and read the book it is based on. It will make you mad and hopefully make you vote. Elections have consequences.
