I saw this pack when it was introduced and liked the looks of it right away. It’s a day pack made for the foot soldier complete with hydration capability from Camelbak and harness design by Mystery Ranch. That’s a top of the line pedigree but it isn’t just for show. I can tell you it is one of the best little packs I have tested. The Camelbak Linchpin holds 1850 cubic inches and a 100 ounce Water Beast bladder that lays up against your back in a dedicated, insulated pocket. It has the right amount of pockets and an expandable shove it for larger items. Pull straps cinch everything down tight.
It is made well from top quality materials and has features like drinking tube routing slots, quiet zipper pulls, antenna ports, strap keepers and side pockets sized for M-16 mags to make it particularly well suited for tactical applications. It is also compact for use in close quarters.
Made for patrolling soldiers. The weight of ammo, grenades, smoke, radios, batteries etc adds up quick so this pack has to be able to handle the load. The Futura Harness is made by the world class pack makers at Mystery Ranch and it is fully adjustable including torso length.
I have always been a sucker for cool packs this size but most turn out to be nothing more than glorified book bags. It is rare to find one that has all the goodies found on full size models and actually carries well. This is one of the good ones. It is a very good backpack that is perfect for schlepping 30 plus pounds all day.
The Water Beast bladder is the best in the business as far as I am concerned and this one has all the bells and whistles including Hydroguard to keep the grunge away.
The Linchpin is a nice piece and comes in Army Universal Camo, Multicam or Coyote (pictured) flavors.
We can be educated and persuaded but not bought, bullied or bs’d.
