More Pics From Northern Idaho

A Polaris Ranger convoy up Round Top Mountain affords a hazy but spectacular view of the lake below.
Our primary mode of transportation around the lake is this 23 foot North River with a 250 horse Yamaha outboard motor. Kind of the Hummer H2 of boats, this all metal SUV is comfortable, dependable and ultra sturdy.

My favorite seat on the boat offers an outstanding vantage point and that wind in your hair freedom feeling. It is also a pretty good way to test the windproofness of shell gear.

Green Monarch Mountain or the Monarch as it is called stands a little more than 5000 feet tall. It is impressive with steep cliffs and heavy timber running down to thin, rocky beaches or right into the water. Massive.

Trolling up the shore line. Our host Jeff Korte and I perched on top of the boat glassing the Monarch for bear. There have been a couple recent sightings of Grizzly in this area but we were not so lucky on this day.

There is no shortage of deer though. In the Finnertys backyard you almost have to shoosh them away to walk down to the dock. Two doe, a small button buck and a nice little shooter just out of the frame to the right. This is a deer refuge so these are strictly off limits and they know it.

Turkey.

Jeff and I hunting for Black Bear in the Coeur D Alene National Forest. Big, densely covered terrain that is broken up by high ridges, deep drainages and lots of running water. I am still getting to know this country but I am pleased with how my gear and my skills are holding up so far.
Thanks.
