TAD Gear Shells Now Feature eVent Waterproof Breathable Laminate - Predator Hardshell V3.0 - Raptor Prolite

If you are a regular reader or you take the time to peruse past posts it is obvious that I am particularly fond of small outfits that pour their heart and soul into what they do.  Gear heads at heart that are truly committed to making the best possible gear.  One of those fanatical boutiques is a California based company called Triple Aught Design or TAD Gear.

The TAD Gear Predator Hardshell is a good example of one of the reasons why I developed this site.  When a small entity makes something that represents best in class, it needs to be highlighted and promoted so that it becomes known to and embraced by the market.  That drives unit sales up and the company enjoys enough success to stay in the fight.

State of the art shell gear.  This is the formidable Predator Hardshell v3.0.

Now, I am not trying to claim any credit for TADs success but I will pat myself on the back for helping spread the word about them.  They are going strong and continue to improve, expand and innovate.  And that my dear reader is good for all of us that care.

In "Supermans Cape" I told you that the Predator Version 1.0 was one of the best hardshells on the market rivaling no less than industry giant Arcteryx in quality and attention to detail.  Months after I posted that article I received a box from TAD containing a half dozen other products.  I have not completed my evaluation of all of them, expect to see an article on that soon, but I can tell you now that everything I have from TAD is absolutely first rate all the way around.

The Raptor Prolite jacket is lighter and more packable for fast 'n light ops.

I thought so much of TAD that I approached them about pet projects and it was during those discussions that I learned that they had partnered with General Electric to use eVent waterproof breathable laminates in their shell pieces.  I couldn't say anything about it until those products hit the market but I couldn't be happier for TAD.  This is a very big deal for them and a smart move by eVent.  The first two TAD shells to benefit from this new venture are the stout Predator Hardshell Version 3.0 and the lighter weight Raptor Prolite.  Both of which are as good if not better than anything else in their class and offered in grey, black, green and tan.  Am I gushing?  You bet I am because this gear is that good and these guys deserve the attention.

What's the big deal about eVent?  eVent is touted as being just as waterproof as Gore-Tex but substantially better at passing water vapor giving high activity users a distinct edge.

Stay tuned for more on TAD.  This is not poser wear folks.  This is primo gear for high speed, low drag hot shots.  Well done TAD.  Again.
