Introduction - Promoting The Best Outdoor Gear
Hello. Welcome to my blog site. This is my temporary home while my regular site is being built, which seems to be a never ending process. In any event, the purpose of this effort is to tell the world about what I believe represents best-in-class outdoor equipment. You will see that some of my picks are old, tried and true standards while others are brand new examples of cutting edge technology. What you will also find, I hope, after reading a few of my entries is that I will always shoot straight and give you my honest opinion. And let me make one thing crystal clear, I am not compensated in any way by the people that make or sell the equipment that I talk about. I use what I like and I promote what I use so if you find it in one of my posts or on one of my lists, you will also find it in my pack, truck, or strapped to my ATV.
You can read more about my background in my biography but basically I have been a passionate gear head for more than 30 years. My outdoor interests are in fastpacking, backpacking, trail running, big game hunting, mountaineering and ATVing. I was also a SAR Tech-EMT for our County Sheriff's Mountain Rescue Team www.mcsomr.org and Helicopter Division for 14 years. During that time I participated in more than 350 search and rescue missions and learned to truly appreciate great gear and it's effect on performance and survival.
I like bad weather, rough terrain and extremely remote locations so the gear I choose has to be functional, lightweight, and very dependable. What about cost? Cost means nothing to me when I am in the boonies. I want the best gear, regardless of cost, because my life depends on it.
So, I like gear. That's my thing. I will use this site to write about the gear I like and I will post the various lists that I have put together complete with names, models and websites. If you have constructive comments or suggestions, send them in. I am very opinionated, but I am reasonable and can be persuaded. My goal in all of this is to be your source for information if you need great gear. I want www.hardcoreoutdoor.com to be the one site you have to visit for your kit, head-to-toe and everything that goes in your pack.
Thanks and keep checking back with us or subscribe and new entries will be sent to you when published.
